Being self-employed isn’t easy.

You might think you’re breaking away from the 9-5 but actually you’re swapping it for something that can become 24-7.

For some people it suits them fine but for others it can be quite a burden, because when you are your own boss, it means that you have to:

- Motivate yourself

- Stay on top of all the deadlines

- Be aware of and deal with any changes in legislation that affect your work

- Find new clients

- Find the right staff (if you need some)

- Make sure you’re keeping your clients happy

- Make sure you’re keeping your staff happy (if you have some)

- Keep on top of the business finances

- Make sure you’re making enough money to be able to pay everyone and have enough left for yourself

- Make sure you’re putting enough away for taxes

- You might not be able to take any real time off

- And the rest!

It can feel like you’re juggling a hundred balls at once and that’s without anything else that might be going on in your private life.

It’s a lot of work and it can be really hard.
